Commissioned Work: Beckii Cruel x Faye de-Boorder

The drawing above was produced after being approached by fashion designer Faye de-Boorder asking to create an illustrative portrait of Beckii Cruel to be used as part of a new exclusive collection of women's t-shirts.

The t-shirts can be found online at Faye de-Boorders website and can be purchased at Beckii Cruel's website.

FMP

For my final major project in my degree, i'm doing a project based on dreams. I'm going to create a 'dream journal' by interviewing people and asking them about their dreams. Then try and bring them to life through a series of illustrations. If anyone would like to be involved in the project please get in touch! :)

Just a quick post of a drawing I've recently been working on, based on a character called Nina (Natalie Portman) in the film Black Swan. More to follow at a later date...

It's been a while...

So it's been a year since my last post, pretty much. And if I'm being honest, I completely forgot about this blog until I was looking through some old uni work and remembered setting it up in one of my first years here. I am now half way through my final year (eep!) and will be graduating in summer, fingers crossed!! Anyway, I will hopefully start using this more and will most some more recent work up. But for now, here is my favourite piece from Uni so far.

Some new drawings and things...

Following the making of the letters come some illustrations based around the wall made from them. These illustrations include a  mixture of pencil (graphite and colour), chalk, embroidery, marker and biro.

Some turned out quite successful and others... well not too great!

It's a bit Elton John...

The latest thing I have been working on is building a 3d letter, which would be part of a 'great wall of type'. This was a bit daunting as building 3d objects was something I hadn't done since school days in product design! The letter I got was an 'M'.

Time to think of some ideas...since the simple block M was out of the question. I stupidly chose to make mine out of coffee stirrers/sticks. Something I regretted up until the moment it was finished, but now I'm quite happy with the result.
I wanted the end result to be quite colourful and to stand out in this wall of type instead of just blending in with whatever else was to be made.

So 1000 coloured sticks later I ended up with my finished letter! (yes I did paint them all...bad times)

New Work...

This is the first in a series of illustrations I'm doing in my spare time. May add to or change at a later date, still not too sure about this.

Finally back...

After a pretty tough year, I'm finally back on track. Just completed a project based on the radio story "Under Milk Wood". I produced a book cover and 3 illustrations based on the characters Captain Cat, Polly Garter and Utah Watkins.

I thought that this would never end...

Finally completed a group brief which was set around re-branding a NYC coffee/chocolate shop for the UK market. My final outcomes was to produce button badges, gift cards and mens/womens t-shirts. Except that I managed to break the badge machine...
Photos below.
Enjoy!
